Porsche 718 CAN BUS Data over Bluetooth - Working Great!

On the Porsche 718 you need to tap into the DRIVE CAN BUS directly. I was able to do this and "inject it" on the CAN pins of an OBD2 port extender with an OBDLink LX. After reverse engineering all of the Porsche PID's, I have all the track day data you could ever want getting captured with RaceChrono Pro.

  • Great find, will try to do the same on my 718 Spyder. Many thanks 👍
  • Thanks!
As an update - I got RubberTrac working and did a full up test last weekend at an autocross:
    Dash was made with RaceRender.
  • On my 991.1 911 the CANBUS is exposed on the OBD2 port but for the life of me I can't get the data working over my MX+ or CX device. I put in the proper PIDs but it just goes into "waiting for data". I assume you just added your MX+ device to CAN devices in RaceChrono and then in the car settings added the CAN PIDs?
  • Yep - I also disabled the OBD2 connection. (it should be one or the other). I did a lot of reverse engineering work, so connecting the OBDLink was the easy part for me. Not sure what else to try.
