Request: Auto-Start session

Hi, first let me say THANKS to aol for putting out this great app. I've been on board since the first preview.

We want to use racechrono in a 24-hour race car (ChumpCar, see our facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/simonsaysracing). We did a test at the last 24 hour event and found that more often than not, we failed to "start" each 2-hour session. The sessions appeared to end successfully when the car stopped for a pit stop. We loved the ability to see current and previous laps, and to do video overlay post-event.

I'm wondering if there is some way to add a feature "auto start" a session once the car gets moving past some speed, or goes past the S/F line.

Maybe this exists or has already been asked for, but I haven't seen any mention of it.

Any hope of getting it in? I have a $20 to donate for the effort!

Thanks -
Mike Whitney

Thanks for the improvement idea. It cannot be implemented 100% like you describe, but maybe something quite similar could be done...

I'm thinking that it could pause/resume automatically data logging when once started. It would still keep connected to the Bluetooth GPS etc, but just would not save the data when stopped.
  • Threshold (speed) for saving data with a delay (set number of seconds before and after the threshold have been met). Before the threshold possible by constantly buffering. 5-10s would be fine I guess (and no real need to adjust it).
  • I had an race apps before that auto starts video recording once the car moves. It constantly connects to gps. Basically I just need to start the apps and it will auto starts video recording once I move out of pit.
  • Did this request ever get implemented ? It would be great to have the session/video start-stop recording at a set speed/location
  • Not yet, but still in the plans.
