This tutorial explains how to link video files to your session when they were recorded using the GoPro remote control feature. In this case, RaceChrono has automatically created a sync point that marks the exact moment recording started, which makes linking a one-tap operation.
If your videos were not recorded via GoPro remote control, see the general video synchronisation tutorial instead.
Step 1: Import the video files into your session
- Open your session and tap the round light-blue button to open the session
Videos screen.

- Tap Add files to open the Video import screen.
- Make sure your GoPro is powered on, then select the item with your camera’s name as the import source. RaceChrono will first connect to the camera over Bluetooth, and then use Wi-Fi for accessing the video files.

- Select the video files you want, wait for the download to finish, and tap Done to import them into your session.
Step 2: Link the videos
RaceChrono automatically attempts to link and synchronise all video files imported to a session with the session data based on the GPS data embedded into the video files (see the general video synchronisation tutorial for more details). However, because GPS data is not always available, this tutorial explains how to do the linking using sync points instead.
Because the video was recorded with the GoPro remote control feature, RaceChrono created a sync point at the moment recording started. You can link the video to that sync point in a single step:
- On the Videos screen, find the imported video — it
appears with the red text “Not synchronised”.

- Tap the three-dot menu on the video item and select Link
after….

- Select the automatically created sync point that matches when this video started recording.
- The video is now linked.
- If the video and the data don’t align perfectly, you can fine-tune the synchronisation manually — see Tutorial: Adjusting video synchronisation for step-by-step instructions.
Chapter files
GoPro splits longer recordings into multiple files (chapter files). You
only need to link the first chapter manually as described above — RaceChrono
recognises GoPro chapters and links the remaining files automatically after
the first one.
Troubleshooting
- No sync point appears in “Link after…”. The sync point is only created if video recording on GoPro was started via RaceChrono’s remote control.
- If you resumed the session, make sure the correct Session start / Session resume entry is selected before linking — sync points belong to a specific start.
- Chapter files weren’t linked automatically. Confirm the files are recognised as GoPro chapters (same recording session, sequential filenames). For non-GoPro multi-file recordings, link each chapter manually with Link after…, choosing the previous chapter as the anchor.
