Adding custom PID Channels.

Hi,

I have a VEEPEAK Bluetooth adapter working fine with IOS on a 1290 Super Duke R motorcycle and I'm getting the predefined data channels such as coolant temp and engine rpm etc.

I'm trying to add additional custom channels for front brake pressure, gear and wheel speed. I've tried multiple ways but the new gauges are not showing any data.

Do I need to buy the OBDLink MX+ Bluetooth adapter to add additional monitor channels?

This is a common question. Per other threads on here - brake, gear and wheel speed are often not available via OBD port. Inability to get brake & gear specifically are two biggest complaints by users of all mobile lap timer apps.

Answer depends on the vehicle. In a 4 wheel vehicle these are usually only available via CAN bus. I have an extensive writeup over on 718 Forum of how I did that, so I now have all that data. No idea about cycles.
