I exported the whole session with no problem. I'm trying now to export just some laps individually and I get the above mentioned error. I tried to export the whole session, to see if it's something to do with individual laps, and now that is generating the same error message.

Which device brand/model is it? It's odd that it works for whole session and fails for individual laps. Did you also change the quality? Some devices fail when encoding bitrate is too high, so you could also try to lower the quality when you get this failure. For instance Nexus 7 (2013) fails with very high quality -setting, but high quality -setting works fine.
