itunes "file sharing" support for external video transfer

I've started using cloud sync for my iphone photos, which is resulting in the process to download external videos to the phone (to import into RaceChrono) no longer works. I noticed the file sharing option in itunes which appears to provide more direct file transfer capability for iOS apps that support it - which might make the whole process a lot easier? Would it be possible to investigate and support this functionality? https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT201301 - my apologies if there is some restriction from apple that would prevent this

    Yes, I have thought about it, but no decision yet. I should find the time to do more research and experimenting with it.

    Currently with iCloud Photos you can just import the video files through iCloud. I know it's a lot of data to transfer. The memory card reader method also works: https://racechrono.com/article/2059
