OBDLink MX+ for iOS not working

Hi,

I recently purchased an OBDLink MX+ with the expectation that, coupled with my bluetooth racebox mini, I'd be able to get both lap timing, and in the case of my stock-sensored NC miata, coolant and cat temps.

But I can't for the life of me get a consistent connection between the racechrono app and the OBD2 receiver.

Are my chances any better with an Android phone, or with a separate iOS device running the OBDLink app with their dashboard?

Leaning towards the latter, but would really love to just get all my data on one iOS screen if I can.

Behavior:
1. plug in OBD2 receiver
2. Ignition start
3. Receiver connects via bluetooth
4. Open OBDLink app and connect receiver
5. Once connected, see OBDLink dashboard with live values
6. Switch over to Racechrono and add the OBDLink MX+
7. Start a session
8. Most times it says connected, but doesn't show any fast or slow channel data (just in perpetual load). And when i switch back to the OBDLink app, it says the connection was lost
9. 1/20 times i've seen coolant temps actually show up on my RaceChrono dashboard, but it seems very fragile/short-lived

  • Well you're not supposed to use the OBDLink app in tandem with RaceChrono. It's not going to work like that. Just exit that app before using RaceChrono.
