RaceChrono and Internal Sensors

Hello.

First of all, I would have to thanks the authors for creating so powerfull tool.

I just want to inform that "Record internal sensors" unfortunately not works with HUAWEI U8836D device with Android 4.0.4 version.

"No connection to Accelerometer/Gyroscope" message appears.

  • Thanks for the report. I will improve this feature soon.

I've been using racechrono since the windows version and logged many track days with flawless performance. Kuddos for that.

I'm very exited about the internal sensor logging.
Would be excellent to calculate sideslip angles.

I've noticed only acc and gyro are support for logging.
On the newer devices an rotation_vector sensor is available.
This is an calculated sensor with sensor fusion applied.

If this sensor could also be logged I'd be over the moon.

All hard math stuff is done by android in that case (9dof fusion depending on available hardware)
Maybe sideslip calc can be a future feature in racechrono?

Keep up the excellent work. Respect for your programming skills.

I'm not sure if the pre calculated channels work when riding vehicles. But I will investigate. Thanks for the kudos :)
  • I noticed these calculated sensors are only available in android 4.x
This app gives good overview of capabilities and is well documented.

  • With the latest version 2.34 of the app I can record only Accelerometers values (Acceleration force - including gravity). But I think it is better to read Acceleration force - excluding gravty.
And recording Gyroscope still not works. Connectiong to Gyroscope message always showing.
