Windows Mobil 6.1 on Blackjack II

I am using the WM version on my blackjack 2, attempting to get race chrono to work.
I know i have the phone set up to use com 6 for gps, but it says No fix to satellites(0). I've tried every braud rate and still same thing. I know the com 6 set up is working as that is what google maps is set up to look on and it works, and i know im getting good single as i have 4 blackjack 2s, and i've using the gpstest on one while trying to get another to work. Yet to get any to work with this app and really wanting to try to get it to work as this App is exactly what i am looking for in ways to time races/improve performance. Any help you might give me to try to get RaceChrono to work on the blackjack is much appreciated.

  • Is the program creating \RaceChrono\Sessions\*-nmea.txt files at the selected storage locations? Do these files have any content? If they do please copy paste few lines of the output here (from middle of the file).
  • It is creating nmea.txt files but All the 'Date-Time-Nmea.txt' are blank, 0bytes size
I got google Maps to work under the settings, also tried another tracking program (called speedtracker) it woldnt work under the com 6 settings but it listed 'Samsung GPS hardware, Ver 0.1' and it works under that but not liking that program, your app from the screens and documents is more what i am looking for.
If i can get this program to work on my phones I would most defiantly donate to it, and spread to word at my local Rc shop and demo it to them, they would love this app, alot cheaper then a 280$ remote with telemetry and 40$ lap timer, that only give you lap time insetead of section times.

The windows GPS API is not supported. This means to use the internal GPS, you need to define a COM: port for it. Go to "Settings (Windows) > External GPS > Programs" and select a port in "GPS program port". Then go to RaceChrono settings and select the same port you just defined.

I would recommend the internal GPS only for occasional usage, and for a serious laptiming buy a good Bluetooth GPS receiver (like $60-80 for Qstarz BT-Q818X, where the X is important).
  • well the phone is setup to output to com port 6, and that is the settings i have set in racechrono, and in Google maps(works in Google map just takes about 10-15seconds to initialize), And 60$x4 is a little out of my price range atm, along with the phone causing enough weight to the RC car, where every oz counts.

My advice is to get the other software (like that SpeedTracker you mentioned) using COM ports working first, since this might be configuration issue. There's quite many open issues with RaceChrono right now, my apologies not using more time right now to solve this...

    hi,

i have a HTC HD phone with windows media 6.1 and having the same problem (no fix to satellites) in live timer. If i can configure the racechrono to work with my internal gps, then i'll consider getting a 5hz gps. I have selected com port 4 and baud rate 4800 and still no result.

here is an output from -nmea.txt, do you have any suggestions?

I think you have configured the GPS properly as you're getting data, but it's not getting a fix to satellites (wait longer and/or run the QuickGPS app if you have it pre-installed, HTC's usually have it). If you're just testing it from inside the house, you need to go outside, as the internal GPS's are not very sensitive. Inside a car you need to place the phone to your dash near the glass.

Anyways 5 hz GPS is always recommended, as it will make you much happier with the software!
