Importing video files- which format is compatible?

If you record video using a generic video camera (not a GoPro), what format will RC accept? AVI, WMV, MP4?
Then, if I record a RC session, can I sync the video to the GPS data that RC records?

    MP4 container with h.264 or h.265 video codec and AAC audio codec.

    Does it matter if there isn't any GPS data? If you could just display the speed gauge, it would be fine, because I just record for fun.

    Doesn't matter, you can manually sync the video file. You'll need to record the session in RC separately, to get the GPS data from your phone.
