Maps not working on Fire Phone

Hi,

I have an Amazon Fire Phone and wanted to use RaceChrono. When I select tracks and then the example track the Google maps screen should appear within RaceChrono and should show the markers (this is what happens on my old Android phone)

On the Fire Phone when the map should appear the screen goes white for a second and then it goes back to the main screen with the start button.
Same happens when I select the marker sign on the menu bar whilst in a live session or when I want to open a track - so whenever the maps should be displayed.

Google maps is running fine on the phone and it's updated to the latest version. But it was downloaded from PlayStore as the phone originally comes with the Amazon Maps application.

Any idea what could cause this?

This should work: RaceChrono > Settings > Expert settings > Map mode > Google Maps v2

Was there any special tricks you had to do to install? Another user complained he does not even have the install button enabled in Play Store for RC.
