I imported my sessions and GoPro videos to racechrono using iOS photos on iPad. I can’t get any sound when linking the video in racechrono which makes it hard to align the video. But when I export the sound is in the video. Am I missing something?
That is interesting because the export plays with sound in the quick look and in all other apps. So racechrono is using the “silent mode” feature of iPad to decide whether to play audio which is weird because the usual expectation is that silent mode is to control notifications and UI sounds or alerts. Ie silent mode with video player or iTunes or games doesn’t turn off the sound - that is usually controlled by “mute” or the volume control.
Anyway just a bit a feedback because it’s confusing. Thanks for the tip.
It's the default functionality of the iOS video player component. I will need to research how it's actually supposed to work in silent mode, and then do changes accordingly.
It looks like it's a matter of configuring the AVAudioSession category to playback instead of the default, which is SoloAmbient, which, as you said, mutes playback in silent mode and on screen lock.
